Our Story
Extra, Extra — The Story Behind the Name.
"Extra! Extra! Read all about it!" — the old newspaper call for something worth stopping for. That's the whole idea. In a city that moves fast, we wanted to build a corner where people actually pause: for a proper coffee, a real conversation, a moment that's a little extra.
Why we started:
I have always believed the best moments happen over coffee. After years of searching, I wanted a space in Wellington CBD where regulars become familiar faces and everyone gets a bit of extra care.
What we're about:
Everyone who walks in has a story, and we wanted to build somewhere those stories get shared over a good cup of coffee, not rushed past.
I love talking to people. It's the whole reason I'm here. I'd rather learn your name and your order than move you through a queue. And I wanted a space where you feel that — where you can meet a friend, catch up with a client, work on your big idea, or just sit quietly with a coffee and a cookie and feel like you belong.
Good coffee is the given. The welcome is the point.
